steering stabilizer

Is this something that i would need with a 2" lift & bigger tyres or is it only needed for those with grown up lifts?

Just for bigger lifts really. Won't hurt on a smaller lift, just not required.
Think about it when you're on 35s  :wink:

probably wont NEED it, but wont do any harm, its job is to stop sudden movements and absorb wander, ie hitting a rock or the wobble you get with bigger tyres.

just make sure the steering is as good as it can be before you fit it, it will hide some problems but should not be used for that.

ya should have a stabilizer on if thats yer question?  but you will get away with a standard one with tyres upto about 31s.

Do XJ's have them as stock, I have an article on buying a used one & from the pic it looked like it had one, the tyres were not even of any great size.

Yes, XJs have them from the factory. I drove my XJ with 6" of lift and 33s for a while without one and it was fine, just a bit more 'twitchy' than usual - and that's with a knackered steering box. I have one now but only for comfort (no tats and wife beater here :lol: ), don't use them to cover up a problem.
