Hi all, new to the world of jeep (since last Friday) I'm going to fit some rear parking sensors at the weekend and was wondering if any of you have done it and can supply me with some tips,instructions etc. I.E how do I gain access to the rear of the bumber to route wires etc etc. Any help greatly appreciated  :-)

P.S I have an 04 Plate Grand Cherokee.

Fitted some on my Ranger. Nothing to it really, just take your time and drill the holes straight. Take the power from the reverse light. Easiest way to route the wire is under the carpet by pulling out the rubber weather strips on the doors. Put the control module insode the car to protect it from damp - which is the parking sensors' nemesis. Be careful of the field of vision of the sensors cus a goose-neck tow hitch may be in it's line of sight. Once it's fitted, make sure you keep the sensors clean, as dirt can be detected as an obstacle.

reverse until you stop works fine, the parking sensors can give false readings and end up making you look like you cant park or know the length of the jeep

TRied one on a Commander....twas a useful gizmo...

But then a gain I think the rear view for parking in some modern cars er Astras/Novas is crap any way....

Found it to be worth it's weight in gold when I had a quad cab ranger, but that's a big vehicle (in the UK) to park in a teeny space. For anything smaller than a quad cab pickup, wouldn't bother.

I agree with the above

There's a trick with having someone stand behind the vehicle, looking where they are, finding a point on the body and a direct line from where you sit,look into the mirror, straight past this point, and when it all lines up the back of your vehicle is EXACTLY in the right place.

How to reverse a 40'er to within a couple of inches using only your mirrors.  Electronic parking detectors are great for people who can't reverse.

awww maybe they are for the wife or younger driver....in which case having them will help get familiar with larger dimensions?

My advanced driving examiner had no complaints. (And yes, I did pass)
