TJ Bumper Winch Plate

Looking to mount a winch to the front Warn Rockcrawler bumper on the TJ does anyone have any photo's or drawings of what I would need to fabricate.

Cheers

just from doing a quick search for photos looks like warn now makes them with winch mounts. As long as the bumper mounts are up to the task, and the top plate of the bumper is 6mill thick, just drill and bolt. then you would just have to fab a fairlead mount.
unless you want to run an 8274...................

Just done some measuring and the actual thickness of the steel that the Warn bumper is formed from is 5mm.  Assumed I would have to make a fairlead support but was unsure how much I would need to beef up the actual bumper to take a winch.  Isle of Man would be grateful for any photo's to give me some idea.  As I am reluctant to pay for the Warn plate as it is a ridiculous price for a piece of bent steel.  Doublej at the moment the warn bumper is picking up the top and bottom jeep chassis bumper mounts I am assuming these are upto the job of holding the winch on but I am looking at the possibility of adding some additional strapping to run back along the chassis rail if not any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the images, how thick was the original bumper as I am trying to decide if I need the additional 6mm thickness that most of the aftermarket motherboards provide as they appear to be working on the assumptions that it is carrying the full load of the winch once bolted to the the frame rails and not using the bumper for strength.

if you want to make it last forever use something like 1in by 6mill thick strap just on the mounting holes. ie: from the front of the bumper back.
that added with adding straps to the mounting of the bumper and it will last through some pretty harsh pulling.

Doublej thats the direction I am leaning in, making some 6mm plate brackets to reinforce the bumper to chassis connection and also beef up the fixing area for the winch.  Also for the fairlead I was planning on making up a carrier from 6mm plate that could then be welded to the original bumper with relevant gussetting for strength.  I was also looking into possibly plating the back of my Warn Rockcrawler bumper to tun the middle section into a closed box.  Not sure how much addtional strength i need and don't want to lose all of the suspension lift due to the weight of the steel I have added to the front.

massive overkill batman, plus then you would want to sleeve the bolt holes, with its current state i would just drill lager holes in the bottom so you can fit an extension inside.
something else i just thought of...... when i made my old winch bumper the front tube crossmember made bolting the winch in a pain
isle of man could probably give you better feedback on that

£40 from flea bay? Would get you started maybe? A few tweaks and spot of metal glue would do the trick im sure?

Thanks for the offer Greggmo need to decide on the winch then look at mounting, Warthog I have looked at the universal mount and I don't think I need the whole thing as once it is attached to the bumper it effectively makes it almost 1/2" thick which I think is probably a little over kill so will probably look at the chassis fixing to the bumper + local strengthening around the winch mounts.  Watch this space will have to decide on the winch now bugger more money that I have to spend, I could always box in the front bumper and use it to transport illicit alcohol I suppose.

cheers
