the end is in sight with the 401, thank fuck  and so gonna try and be one step ahead and sort the exhausts quick, so was wonderin the pro or con of where to put them, the current ones off that engine need replacing as they are fooked, so best options and why please, thoughts so far:

As they are, come out the side just in front of either rear wheel?

Or should i get them out the rear end?

Or out the front at the side just under where the tub meets the bonnet (noisy but out the way ish)?

Cheers Birties, have someone who can make them but if you got any other ideas about gettin them purchased or made that would also be appreciated.

don't jump the gun m8, if your going for custom made as your post suggest I strongly recommend you wait till the engine is fitted as most decent exhaust builders will start at the headers and build back.

as for design keep it simple and keep it high, high so you dont brake it, simple so cheap to repair when you do brake it

was more bout actually deciding wot i want, and where, rather than gettin them made, but cheers anyway

I'm working on getting 4 sets of 2 into 1 lake pipes for my V8, 2 each side running outside frame rail just under body but above sliders with baloney cut ends stopping just in front of rear wheels, might even put some in-line baffles in if I have to.

Route them where you fancy (or where the zorst builder says is possible)

The main considerations are,

Clearance - Tucked up out the way as far as possible to avoid contact when 'froadin.

Vibration - Routing through gaps between chassis and tub can cause horrible noises.

Heat dissipation - see above. You don't want to set anything on fire. Likewise you don't want to burn ya leg everytime you get in/out of the Jeep.

Noise - loud and roaring is great ...... but only for short periods, after a 20 min drive your ears will start to bleed and then you get a headache. You end up drivin everywhere with ear defenders on and can't hear the Radio .. (been there, done that)

Performance and material come into it too but your zorst builder will advise you what's right.

do exhaust makers use flat oval pipe rather than the normal round ? if a system is bespoke for the jeep then an oval system might be more suitable for clearence concerns. reason for mentioning is that the jag xjr has oval pipes so that the exhaust clears the rear axle in the very tight space there is between that and the body. this is made out of stainless to give a life time service.
