clutch slave cylinder help!
«

looks as if my clutch slave cylinder had chucked it on my 2.5td cherokee.
after calling round a million places and everyone wanting to sell me the slave and master as on complete kit,but i see some also sell the master as a stand alone unit, but no one sells the slaves.
also even if i can get a slave unit, how do i get the pipe to come away from the slave, does the whole unit come to pieces,ie master, pipe, and slave.
i can get a slave from a scrap yard, but they want to cut the pipe to get it out,is there anyway or joining these plastic pipes to take the high pressure of the clutch hydraulics.
regards brian

i knew the pre and post face lift master had changed, but its the slave thats leaking,we were thinking of getting a slave off a scrap cherokee thats the same year as the one i have, then we were thinking of just cutting the pipe and using a hydraulic plastic compression fitting of the correct dia that i have found, this will take up to 18bar pressure, dont know what this is in psi or how much the system is under pressure when in use, what do you reckon, worth a try, cheapest price so far for master and slave kit was £150 ish plus uk vat, bring it to around £175 ish i reckon, suppose that not bad really.

found one of a scrap diesel facelift of the same year, and i am getting the pipe as well, shame as i was really wanting to try those hyaudrolic fittings on the pipes, managed to get 8mm fittings that would be ideal for the job, local dealer said the more pressure they get put on them the tighter they got and the more you tug on them the more they dig in,great bits of kit.

yup tis true the can be so tight they crack the plastic
if its feels like this just take the slave out of the bellhousing with all pipes connected fill the resevoir and pump slowely by hand the slave pushing its rod in takes a while but works every time

job done, left the car overnight, went out first thing this morning, bled it again, not we have clutch release and gears, still not 100%,feels like a little air still in there, but drove around today and all seemed ok with little drag, will bleed more off on sunday, but for now we are happy, the 8mm od compression fitting sealed and holds ok,so far.
wife wants rid of the car,i want rid of the wife,,,,,but now it time to think about a second standby car,use the cherokee for the weekends and bad weather.
regards to all
