Mitsi J26 Indicator problem
« on: February 01, 2010, 06:05:23 PM »

Today, just to make things less boring, I reversed into a wall.
It was icy and snowy but the maine problem was I didn't see the damn thing!
The off side indicator and rear light/brakelight clusters are smashed.
Both bulbs have been removed and a spot of metal bashing has got the body back in shape.

So I went and got a new tail board light set (for a trailer).
When it's plugged in (to the trailer socket on the rear of the Jeep) when activated all lights on the tail board work apart from the off side indicator.
The front off side indicators flash like barmy bit nothing from the rear. The nearside indicator, front & back, work fine when I switch them.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated,
Bernard

all I can remember is on old fords you would get a fast flash when a bulb blew, wrong resistance for flasher unit. I assume you removed the broken light completely, try temp wiring in a bulb even if its out of sight

Many thanks for the help on this as I need Harvey The Wall Banger every day for work.
I'm glad I kept the remains of the old bulbs, I'll be putting a new one in tomorrow.

All the replies are much appreciated.

Time to upgrade to LED....

you will get the same prob if you fit led lamps unless they have a resistor on the back of the lamp to increase the load in the circuit. alternatively just change the relay to a trailer relay as they use a timer circuit not a resistance load to create the flash.
