Diesel non start
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:35:53 PM »

Right before any one says that its a lemon that i bought , i may agree at the moment.

The diesel i paid peanuts for;  has developed a problem since fitting the new starter motor. It turns over but will not fire up ( ran alright before) , checked all items i can find on the site including cleaning the fuel filter. Just wondering if it could be the immobiliser as it does not seem to be switching off since disconnecting the battery on reconecting has it fried anything.

Its not going to the bin yet....  so any ideas please....

Update   ..   Put the DRB 3 thingy on it and come up with 2 faults one is the grankcase sensor and forgot the other but will fit this weekend and see.
The other green diesel i was offered has been snapped up by my friend as it needs an ECU but vehicle in first class condition. "R" reg 70 k on clock.

Further update,   Took the ECU, key barrel and the unit in the overhead consul out of mine, put them into the other non starting XJ TD and it turns over fine and immob light goes out but just wont fire up. No diesel getting to the engine so back to thinking unless some ideas here.

Jaffa cakes at cheapfest.

Nah. If your Gran was anything like mine that was called a smoke alarm!

Could have been more disturbing, I think what he means is the crankshaft position sensor, I don't need to spell out how wrong THAT one could be!

Grankshaft position?  :icon_eek:
