ECU fault
« on: February 28, 2010, 07:16:21 PM »

Hi all. I think i have a ecu fault. I have no ignition lights or fuel pump, only abs light. guages work but it wont start.
What happened was i was fitting a terratrip to the speedo sensor on the box. I disconnected the wire plug and checked the wires with a power probe and by mistake powered up no 3 pin which turned on the fuel pump. Then after that i had no ign. I checked all the fuses and relays and swaped relays from a load of spares ones i had from one i broke up. All fine. Theres power at the 60 amp in the engine bay.
I then powered the same wire up again and the fuel pump ran and stayed running. It will now only turn off with the ing key. But still nothing else.
I wondered if by powering it up it has back fed to the ecu and shorted something out causing this problem. Its a 96 4.0 auto mk1 with the 3 plug ecu.
Thing is im pretty F***** now as im booked on the mac4x4 next week.
Hope you can help.

I doubt you'll get a reply before Monday now, assuming he has got the thing running as he'll be on the Mac until late Sunday afternoon.
