just started to notice this last week, whilst driving, when you brake at the lights and you let go, the car
tends to move forward, but it seems very slow to move on and needs alot of pedal power to get moving

yesterday was towing our horse and going is fine, car auto box changes up over 50mph to 1.5k revs normal,
but going home this did not happen and the revs were about 1 k higher then normal on all speeds, idles ok.
[ as if the overdrive button is turned on ] but car not changing up. also near home coming to lights, found the
same thing happening, loss of power and needs alot of pedal to get moving.

any ideas ? anyone had this before ?

thks

p/s - seems to be when the jeep is full of passengers or when towing / could it be an intermittent fault somewhere ?

up by the drivers bulkhead, on a 4 litre the autobox dipstick is next to the engine oil one, needs to be chacked with the gearbox warm & the box in N

Sticking caliper, jack up each wheel and rotate (brakes off of course) any tight spots should show up

right i started the jeep and left it running and i checked the transmission oil dipstick....................and there was just a blob of oil on the dipstick !!
is this how you check it ? another question........where do i top up the oil ?? i had a good look around and could not see anything, do you top it up
pouring the oil in the dipstick hole ? ?  :icon_biggrin:

if i did not start the jeep and check the dipstick...........it is at the max level. [ with jeep not running ] so does that mean it is ok ?

how long on idle before i check the level ?

confused ?!? lol

Check it hot (and that means drive it for half an hour) and running in neutral or park on a level surface. Top up through the dipstick tube with ATF+4 not Dexron or Mercon

No you need Mopar ATF+4 or equivalent, you've bought Dexron III. Add fluid with engine off.

i have put in nearly 3/4 ltr of fluid. - as i was pouring it in and checking it after starting the jeep and in neutral the level dont seem to be going up.
jeep is warmed up and checked level when engine is hot and in neutral with engine running - its at the min level.
turned engine off and checked the level is at max level
is this correct ?

also what axil fuild do i need to top up with on the diffs and is there a step by step instructions here of how to clean the cover ?

also is the rubber stopper on a dealer supply ?

thanks.

is it alright to use this to top up the transfer case ?

Mopar ATF+4 or equivalent or Dexron III

can it be used on the axles front and rear [ is this called differentials ? ] or is that a different oil ?

thanks

I think you can use Dexron 3 instead of 2 but not the other way round.

Best wait for a proper techy to answer you to be 100%
