Like Momos i need to do something to Mrs. Dutch's rims.  Read the tekkie bits but very unsure about Studpacings, PCD's, B&Q's, M&S's etc... dohhhh.... :icon_redface:

Luckily Momos got sorted by sprintagogo. Either have to buy temporary replacements while I sort out originals...or buy permanent replacements.

A straight replacement by original KJ rims would be safest.  Just lost out on last ebay listing, there's another now for £250 (starting price  :icon_eek:) with good tyres.

So......please re-confirm in straight talk : No WJ rims of any year (pity plenty of those around tho), No ZJ of any year

                                                        Possible : (old) cherokee XJ - wranglers (YJ-TJ) - any others ?

I know its been beaten to death but would be a shame to fork out for things that dont fit and on the bay they mostly only mention Jeep type name and no detailed spec.

Thanks guys.

OK Dutch, you are almost right.

For a Jeep KJ Cherokee (2001 onwards) you need a wheel that has 5 wheel studs at a diameter of 4½" often described a 5 x 4½". Genuine Jeep wheels are also marked with an offset measurement in millimetres which is confusing as most people talk about backspacing which is quoted in inches.

I assume you need to keep a 16" rim so you can just swap your existing tyres to the 'new' rims? You can fit wheels from another KJ Liberty/Cherokee, from an XJ Cherokee and also from the ZJ Grand Cherokee (upto 98/99). You are right that the wheels from a WJ Grand Cherokee will NOT fit, these have a 5" PCD (5 x 5").

THe Icon rims I have sold to Momos are fitted to Wranglers, XJ and KJ Cherokees around the years 2000 and 2001 and have an offset of 31.75mm (1¼") and these will be ideal for you. I am now using the 16" wheels that are the normal fitment to the Grand Cherokee ZJ, not sure what they are called but 90% of the Grand Cherokees had them. These are a straight swap as they are 16" in diameter and 7" wide but the offset is only 25.4mm (1") so they actually stick out by ¼ on each side, an increase of the vehicle track of ½". This is a small amount and can be ignored (unless you are me, in which case it is imperitive that I sell my Icons and purchase the ZJ rims!!!!(please help :100:))
I hope this helps you in your search for some rims. A word of advice, many ebay sellers don't know what they are selling! I have seen a few sets of wheels described as being from later WJ Grand Cherokees when they are easily recogniseable as being from a KJ, XJ or ZJ and vice a versa. If you have any doubts about the wheels you are looking at then post a link here and we should be able to identify them.

I saw those and was quite interested, but unfortunately, I haven't got any free time at the moment to collect them for a few weeks.

Since I already have a spare set of rims, I only need some new tyres, although I shouldn't need to replace any until September (subject to normal wear and tear).

They look ideal, definitely KJ wheels, I have seen that type before. It would be interesting to know what the offset is?

I live about 5-10 miles from those wheels and I work in stockport so if you are stuck I can always collect them and look after them until you can get here.

Dutch, you absolutley must get those, they are similar to the ones Sprintagogobots has for me.
I can refund the tyres if they are better than mine, no probs, and that tyre courier could make it a very nice deal.
well done,

Sprintamabob.....that would be fa-bu-lous  :great:

I sent the bloke a question for more info (size, what Jeep they came from etc....) : he answered (doubt he knows what offset is  :icon_rolleyes:)

The wheels are 235 70 16 if thats any good

Wow. If that is the address for the wheels then they are only 1.5 miles from my house. It might be a stockport postcode but it certainly isn't a stockport address.

All the jeep wheels I have seen have the info you need cast/stamped into the back. should be something like 16x7j  31.75

That is a very vague reply from the seller. I seem to think those wheels were used on a commercial van varient of the KJ but maybe not exclusively. I can pop in and have a look if it would help although showing too much interest might drive the price up?

Those wheels look similar to the ones fitted to my neighbours 2.4 petrol KJ.

Be a good chap and pop round to have a look at the spare would you? (do they still have a matching alloy spare?) I would be interested to know the off-set for future reference.

they be base model KJ wheels, mainly fitted to sports (I think some sports got steel wheels) & some wranglers. They don't suffer from laquer peal like the limited wheels as they don't have any sharp edges where the laquer lifts (saying that this set look a bit scabby).

Look out for a set of the 5 spokes, they seem to have better laquer on them

Sprinta, I asked him to have a look on the inside for markings/numbers to determine size, offset & PCD's.  I'm waiting for his reply.
If no reply is forthcoming I will ask for a viewing if that's ok with you.  (have to know 100% if the things will fit and if condition is ok.)

With 3 days to go bidding has already started  :011:  What would be a realistic value to aim for  ??

I would be more than happy to pop in and have a look for you and perhaps we could short circuit the bidding process with a BIN cash offer  :icon_rolleyes:

As for how much to offer or bid...... For the 4 rims without tyres, if in a useable condition will probably fetch up to £100 but then they also have apparantly good tyres on them (a set of 4 matching that look to have decent tread depth but an unknown make at this stage so could be a bargain budget brand, does anyone recognise the tread pattern?) so probably worth at least another £10-15 per wheel for a used tyre and plus they are already fitted so no fitting/balancing costs to factor in.

If I wanted them I would like to win them for around £125 but suspect £150-160 might be more realistic and wouldn't be surprised if they went for more, maybe around £200. The big problem is that these things fluctuate from sale to sale, you might see an item sell on ebay for a real bargain price then weeks later see another almost identical sale achieve double or more than the first sale, it can be a real lottery.

Do we know what tyres are fitted?

I recken it could go for over £200, assuming a value of upto £40 per tyre and upto £20 per wheel.

I think I paid £50 for my spare set of 4 KJ alloys, which match the ones already fitted.  Condition was acceptable (I don't notice the flaking alloys when I'm driving).

If I had the spare time to collect over the next few days, I would be putting in a bid, but I would really only be interested in the tyres.

The world is full of them  :011:

Dutch, I can ring him and try to get a viewing in the morning but I have family commitments from midday so I hope he isn't one of the many beer on a sat night and bed on a sun morn type. Bidding has started this afternoon, I can ring him now if you want and could make a cash offer tomorrow before the auction ends, what offer would you like to make?

PM me if you don't want this figure to be public (I suppose the seller could be reading this).
