Anyone got the factory specs for jeep side roll over angles?

Specifically CJ7 with 304V8 and FSJ Cherokee Widetrack and Narrowtrack

Just curious.

I beleive the specs where when you feel a heavy pressure on your elbow, you have achieved it. or you fall out of the seat.

there would be no factory specs for a cj or wagoneer in regards to roll over angles, this information wasn not deemed to be needed and there for not tested. the only information you might find is only from people who have tried it. when your sliding off the seat and leaning on the door is an indication your getting close to a potential roll over.

i think someone posted before your brain tells you your going over at 28degrees, so you got along way to go to 45

Jeep will have know exactly  what angle it will roll at 'cos they have to prove their vehicles are safe before they go on sale.

They may not publish figures 'cos they might not be too flattering.

Anybody remember all the shite in the U.S. with the CJ5 and less so with the CJ7.

More to do with on road handling issues and short wheelbases, but it killed off two classic jeeps and bought in the lower wider YJ.

they prove their vehicles are safe before they go on sale by following set EEC directives on vehicle build and construction which are the most stringent in the world.

the only roll over directive is for cabin occupant protection i.e the shell is sufficiently strong so that it doesn't crumple on impact and the occupants are safe with minimal injuries. EEC 2007/46 and it's classed as a frame work specification. the testing for this is static with loads applied to the shell via rams and force gauges to measure the force needed to deform the cabin area on the shell.


the only real roll over results are aimed at the %age chance of a roll over after an accident. this is based on the encap testing and is calculated from the results.

this information starts at 1990 vehicles but at this age the information is mainly non existant since encap testing was very new.

Tried it with a mate..... Put strap thro roll cage and drive up off road bank rock tree or whatever. Its a weird feeling as you go from about to roll to being restrained by winch/strap.....
You will find you're far further over than you would have been if ya didn't have the reassurance of the strap /winch there. Could make you braver than you were before

And how do I know that

i find tarmac or grass at the top of the screen also to be a good indicator
