Spring Weights
« on: June 05, 2010, 08:20:56 AM »

I want to order some Up Country springs but the front are available in 2 different weights & rear have different part numbers. Does any one know how I work out which I need.
Here is a link to that shows them.

No idea but you'll be lucky to see 1" of lift, you'd be better off with a budget lift kit and some decent shocks.

I already have 2" spacers  was going to get the springs & use with my spacers. Any kit over 2" is so hard to get hold of in the UK, the only kit available is Rough Country but the Yanks have slated it so I am unsure bout that one.

Rough Country lifts are comprised of substandard parts. The result is improper geometry and a noisy, harsh, improperly dampened ride. I would never, ever sell their products to you.

That was a quote from someone in the USA, I think Rough Country are made in China & the Yanks hate stuff that is made over there. I can get this kit from the UK £500, I think I would have less problems with 3" of lift.

Yes mm  I would be mad to buy a kit that I know there are problems with, the other problem is anything over 2" & you need a trackbar which are all for the left hand side drive jeeps.

What OEM springs have you ordered?
The upcountry are $200 for all 4 but shipping is not cheap. You can get the Up Country ones over here but I dont get which ones I need cos of the spring rates. Then the springs with spacers will be 3" so I need the track bar.

Dam they only do springs for the V8 not the I6, in fact it says V6 & V8 I thought only the XJ had a V6 option & I don't think they ever made it to the UK officially.

No they are the same, I have emailed them about fitment/lift. The lift is 40mm over standard 4l ltd ride height

Think I might get me some of them & use them with my spacers, do you think I will need new shocks mine are aftermarket ones I got with the 2" BB & will I need a new track bar.

exactly what I am doing, keeping my +2" shocks & fitting BPE on the front & moving the rear bottom shock mounts. I may do the trackbar, but if I do I will get the standard made into an adjustable by my local fab place.

Are these +3”/+4” shocks of any use to you I currently have listed on ebay?  They are off my TJ, but according to the Pro Comp web site they fit the WJ http://www.explorerprocomp.com/PDFs/07cat/72-91.pdf

My listing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280513095915&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Wouldn't bother with up country springs.
According to WJJeeps my Overland probably has the up country suspension & to me it looks a bit of a low rider so wouldn't see it as an upgrade.
Go OME  :icon_winkle: never heard a bad thing said.
