Who has had experience of AMCs V8s on LPG?

I know Kev has, and reckoned about a 25% power loss.

I'm just wondering if there have been other issues, like lack of upper cylinder lubrication, or detonation, on LPG?

I have a long term plan forming.

AMC 360 with single point fuel injection and single point LPG injection.

Dunno how to get there yet, just thinking about it.

nah go multi point injection much easier and no power loss, as for valve seat lubrication, most heads come with hardened valve seats and since US cars have been running unleaded since the mid/early 70's most engine from that era are equiped with hardened valve seats that should deal with lpg.

I think it's Edelbrock who do a tuned port injection system (multi point injection) for AMC V8s

About $2400 (ish) might get some discount for cash

Then you gotta find an LPG multi point injection system suitable to piggyback onto the edelbrock.

(Guessing) $1500 extra maybe more?

You got $4000 to lend me Rob?......errrrrrr plus shipping, duty and VAT that is.

I think I'll stick to plan "A" thanks.

Also, some engines designed to run on unleaded gas can't seem to cope on LPG, no matter how hard their valve seats are

yup but probably not set up properly in the first place otherwise they would last a little longer but I am not sure, You can use a standard manifold as long as you can  drill and tap it safely, you don't have to go running off for some tuned port manifold. Its how they fit all multi- point over here mind you, for you simple shire folk single point would probably work out best.

Sounds like a sorta fools paradise to me, after all I'm not building a race car.

Seriously, I don't think ya need it on a 6 litre V8 putting out just 200-250 BHP and I'm not really interested in making big horsepower figures.

Having said that, good throttle response is very important to me.

All the TBI conversion threads on the IFSJA mention instant improvements in throttle response, driveability, and torque over a carb set up.

It would be very nice to try each set up in turn, but realistically, this ain't never gonna happen

king CJ has been running it for years and on a 6 and now his monster 360 ...... Goes well no probs and has some trick bits  megajolt etc....
best to ask him...... starts and runs LPG no petrol stuff

To my knowledge, we speak English not Afrikaans, so grill seems more relevant. I'm with James,
barbeque is a style of food done on a grill. Doesn't really matter whether the grill is charcoal,
gas or electric, the flavour comes from the seasoning. To get proper flavour from the cooking process,
you use a smoker, in which you burn wood.

Yup, the parts are on the way to megasquirt my 360. Just cannot decide which manifold to mutilate.

how much were the bits for the kit?

Got the kit and all the bits for about $350. Still researching everything, but ordered the kit while the exchange rate is ok. There is a bloke in this country who builds them, so may send the components to him to build into a working unit for me.
