never ending story
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:21:57 PM »

OK so sorted fuel leak and did an oil change this last week and today re done the timing and tracking, running real sweet so took it for a blast round the ring road, but when I parked up noticed I now have a oil leak that looks like its coming from the rear crank seal.

is it likely to be the crank seal or is there something else in that area I should look at and if it is the crank seal is it a split job like the 258

prob worth saying that when I did the oil change I may have overfilled it a bit, probably 1/4" over full on the dipstick.

given it a clean and a second look and might be lucky (or might be wishfull thinking) but it could be the sump gasket that's leaking, will get one ordered asap and drop the sump for an inspection.

Having a good day? :017:

you could say, last week I had 2 running, legal CJs, today i have 2 undrivable CJs :100:

the little rattle that started yesterday became a big thumping rattle today, on inspection big end and crank shells need replacing,  only good news is its still on standard size, never been machined, not oval and no excess end play so will be a strait forward job just cant afford the 170 quid for all parts needed til next week.

it had to go while I had the ass cut of off lil' yella  :banghead: hence all 3 cars off the road (even the beetle mot is out)

the reno had a blown autobox input seal, bstard of a job to do on the driveway. got the box back on but a still a leak but alot less so i feel i have nicked it putting the box back on. the price paid makes it worth playing with to fix. just got to put 2 new rear brake cylinders on the cherry as both had siezed due to lack of use. so full overhaul now happening. just means i have to drive the vitara for another week  :banghead:
