Jeep Cherokee Parts?
« on: August 04, 2010, 02:40:44 PM »

Hi,

Have a few jobs to do on a friends 1999 Jeep Cherokee 2.4td but cant find any places that do parts online so i can eaisly price it all up for him. Any good suggestions. I had a look in the suppliers section and not too sure if im calling his jeep the correct name. It bascially looks like this:-

Sorry for the simple questions never had anything to do with jeep's before. Toyota 4x4's are my thing, really looking for a jeep version of my toyota supplier www.roughtrax4x4.com

Many Thanks,

Adam

The closest you'll get to that in the UK is the shop at www.mansfield4x4.co.uk but they don't carry
that much stock. The best catalogue you will find is www.rockauto.com They're dirt cheap, and
even with shipping to the UK, will still be cheap. You'll have to wait for delivery though.

The best UK source of parts is lighthouse Jeep in Diss, Norfolk. They don't have any web presence, but they're
a good price and delivery is lightning fast. Their phone manner sucks, but they really know their stuff.
They don't do diesel though, so if it's engine related, or a part only fitted in a diesel, try ebay or your last resort will be www.vmdieselspecialist.com in Chesterfield.

The engine is a Vancini Martelli (VM) 2.5 litre 425OHV. Let's be truthful. This engine is trouble. Some
people care well enough for theirs that they run OK, but most have problems. The cooling system is poor
and consequently the heads overheat and crack. It has four individual heads instead of one. If you
can't do the job yourself, fixing it will cost you well over a thousand quid - more than the car is worth.

The engine is a 2.5TD - as said a VM one - also used in Ford Scorpio's, Alfa's...... loads of cars and road sweepers etc.
