i am looking to find a diesel engine frome a cj10 as i am thinking that it could be mated to tf999 trany

Do you really mean one of those 6 cyl Nissan engines from the old patrol or are they different on the cj10s?

3.3 litre Nissan I think.......... last a long time and have narrow power band ...........so I was told....

Also was mated to an auto in the 10A... can't remember which ......prob a TH400 for strength.....

King CJ has an AMC TH400 that I am going to pass on..... £100 if that's any help......

well what i know is they were mated to a 727 torque flight auto and thers a good chance its the same amc bolt patern as my 999 as the 727 was used in waggys at the time so it either was made to the same bolt patern or has an adapter to amc patern therefore ought to be a simplish fit

yes i know the nissan lump is no power monster but should out torque my 258 so has a possible use for more economy and better offroad water ability

it uses an adaper plate to fit it to the 727

The CJ10A airplane tug came with a 6 cylinder Nissan SD33 non turbo engine mated to a big block Mopar TF727 via an adapter ring. This is almost the same diesel engine as the Scouts used during the late seventies (the CJ10A version had a few upgrades not found in the non Turbo Scout versions) but is not the turbo version (SD33T). The Scouts mated the SD33 and SD33T mostly to a T19 4 speed. Without getting into a lot of the history behind the CJ10A, for the U.S. market, it was an oddball and was based off the CJ10 built for Jeep Australia. The SD33 engine was "borrowed" from the Nissan Patrol market in other parts of the world with either a 4 speed manual or later 5 speed.

its er LORD HELMET!  an the bold pattern on the  727 is dodge one, not sure if that helps I think they are different to the jeep pattern aren't they?

if it is dodge pattern it wont work  but wonder why they bought them in with dodge pattern when they already had them in jeep patern

just reading thru a couple of threads and they reckon the s33 is a reliable engine but it doesn't like to be revved and its expensive for parts, its got a very narrow powerband and drives a lot worse than the standard 258, mog isn't that good either, why don't you go the daihatsu route again?

done that and good as it was a 6 banger would tow and sound better and i would like to stay auto stick shifters got the short end

Toyota Landcruiser.... mid 80's last of the leaf sprung ones...... Had one (in a Land cruiser!?) 4.0 litre straight 6 and loads of grunt
used to get 25-28 on the A1 at 60-70

Or the first coiler Amazon Land Cruiser engine that has a turbo but no leccy bollocks  4.2 and even more grunt.........

Yellow Flat Fender man Andy Whitehead has one in a J20 camper he rebuilt... mated to a T18... and geared for 80 cruising.....
When behaving with truck empty used to get 30 mpg

Mate that is breaking the Cand C K30 that is donating its axles has the 6.2 V8 diesel and TH 400 (rebuilt) and transfer case (205??)

Got a diesel SD35T here with Lard Dog adapter plate has 180bhp and 360lbs torque for £250.00 got to be cheap at that!!!

i as always am not in a position to lay cash in to anything at the moment  i am trying to see a way to fit a diesel that would not envolve to much chopping about to a scrambler

IIRC CJ8 has N/T CJ axles so blagg a pair off a Quadtrac CJ7 to solve driveshaft alignment issues.

You'll even manage to make yer own propshafts if you can find a big lathe

But I do believe they were voted "tow vehicle of the year" by some blurb mag like wot car or summat like.

A diesel powered version was made in the Ohio factory for export only. The engines were provided by General Motors, the owners of Isuzu Motor Cars. Production of this diesel version is believed to have been only between 1980 and 1982. This model had the Isuzu C240 engine, T176 Transmission, Dana 300 Transfer box although there are reports of some being produced with the dana 20. Typically they had 4.1 ratio, narrow track axles.
