The J10 is running 33' muds (which will be for sale once i have stuck the baja claws on) but the wheels arent floatin my boat. So i have just fished out some that I have which will look better (once painted black), but they spent a few years outside when i rescued them and so are v rusty (but solid), so, does anyone know i nice easy way to do them? preferbably not expensive otherwise i may as well replace them (JCS £240 a set). All do i have to resort to manual labour

if they are steel prob about £30-£40 each to get them shot blasted and powder coated, if alloys then just think money pit

shoulda said, they steel, was thinkin just bout removin the rust before i slapped on some paint rather than powder coatin etc

just depends on how many times you wana do it? wire brush and some hamerite will last a year and only need minor touchup if you can be arsed, powdercoat could last 5-10 years depending on ~~abuse~~ use

i dont mind the touchin up, its the wire brush im tryin to avoid

i do have a drill attachment tho

and a grinder with a metal sandpaper thing (yup, no idea what its called)

so, there is no magic potion i can apply?

I would go for the powder coat root as they generally blast them so they are rust free to start with so they will last a lot longer and there are loads of colours /effects you can get now.

but that is 200 notes, so i may as well go new at 240, or keep lookin at fleabay

Nah - don't do any of it!

Get em galvanised and sealed then they will be a nice grey colour and you can drive through mud, crud AND salt water with out a second thought.

Suppose you could even paint them if you wanted - different colour for each season maybe, or just a nice bloodshot effect to match Saturday morning eyes, just dont rub em down

i be lucky here, work has powder coating department and a fair few things have gone thro the ovens as a foreigner

i think with anodizin and galvanisin i may be exceedin the "not expensive" option

most likely but anodising looks nice and you have a varied colour choice.

found a shotblasters near me who will do £10 a wheel, so im gonna go outside right now and see how far i get in 10 mins, and if i get nowhere, then im taking them off to be done

first wheel took bout 20 mins to do usin the metal sander attachment on the grinder, so ended up doin the bloody lot, which was inconvenient coz i had 2nd coat of paint to go on

1st coat of swimmin pool paint is on the wheels, lets see if its uses stretch that far

also, regarding the 20 mins hard work, havn't you learnt yet that hard graft put into a jeep makes it more part of you. I put loads of hours into my trucks and i love it, i also know every nut and bolt pretty well and know when something is broken/wrong

have you checked yours since CF, do you know if you broke anything etc

and nothing broke as far as i can tell, nowt obvious anyway, was a bit creaky for the first 50 miles afterwards but it all seems to have settled back in place

if you were near birmingham then £80 a set to powder coat from city powdercoaters as long as there is no tyres of valves on
