Spring over/under mix
« on: September 12, 2010, 11:50:11 AM »

Right..... Dana 60s are big and have spring pad integral with diff housing so deffo got to be spring over.....at front

14 bolt at rear is 500 odd lbs and will give monster spring wrap in spring over even with the use of traction bar  bastard spring packs etc...

THEN!!! I saw April 2010 JP.......  Orange 7 on front..... running RE4.5" lift Spring under at rear and Wrangler spring over at front.... works and stops spring wrap.....
why didn't I think of that before :jpshakehead:

As I am extending the front and doing shackle reversal I can make the ride height to match the rear and maybe it'll work for me.....

Well Birtys what do you think???

PS No I can't do a multi-linky ...... cos I ain't bright enough :icon_twisted:

Dana 60 is a BIG pumpkin had the same dilemma on the silver wrangler - it gets in the way of flex/stuffing but saying that I was not stretching the wheel base.

4.5" rears! wont they be as hard as hell? and wont that affect your flex?  what springs are you using at the front?

I've got 4.5" RE set up all round at the moment and flexes like a Las Vegas pole dancer..... specially as the set up is 8 years old now its well settled!
So if the rear gives me 4.5" lift or a bit less cos its 'weathered' and the rear YJ Heavy duty springs used  on the front  in a SOA give me 5" which is what they reckon a spring over gives on stock springs..... and if i can tailor that front via the re positioning and outboarding by 5/8 per side to the same lift I should be looking from the side profile as I do now but with 39s ( oh yes and it will be 105" wheelbase)

Well that's the plan anyway :icon_twisted:
