I have had my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 (year 2000 x-reg) for a short while and have always been aware i had the dip stick for engine oil missing. A quick trip to a local dealer and i ordered a new genuine Engine Oil Dip Stick. Upon eventually receiving my new Dip Stick i tried to slide it in to the relevant tube (yes i know talking about dip sticks and sliding them in sounds rude!). The Dip Stick got about 75% the way and then was stuck, wouldn't go any further.
Upon suggestions to remove the tube and see what the blockage was i set upon finding the location that the tube enters the sump.
Yeah right! 2 hours later and plenty of head scratching i decided to try and wiggle the dip stick in again. Now getting desperate decided to straighten out the twirl on the end of the dip stick and tried again! YES this time it went in. Problem solved! but then i pulled out the stick again having a check at the oil level and the level was perfect however i then spent ages trying to get the dip stick back in and have now given up.
The dealer assures me i have the right dip stick, i have googled for pictures of dip sticks and not getting the pictures i need to help me with THIS situation!
I have taken a picture of my dip stick... from my Jeep... and measured the distance from the end to the ADD oil line and it measures 52mm.
Can anyone with a WJ 4.7 V8 confirm there dip stick looks the same as mine and the distance from the end to the ADD oil line is 52mm?
Please!!! Thank you!!!
