Treeman posted about the same time as me with the same problem it seems , and he cured his leak by sawing out the damaged pipe and replacing it with some petrol pipe , he mentioned that it was not a high pressure system...
Well , i gave it a go , i sawed out the leaky bit , put on some hydrauic hose , held with two jubilee clips each end , topped up the fluid , and started her up... All was fine , untill i turned the steering to get any air out of the system...the hose just blew to bits...!
It may not be a high pressure system , but its certainly higher pressure than the hose i put on it... I read somewhere that these systems can be up to 80 bar pressure , or more.. It seems the hose i put on is only good for around 10 bar...
Does anyone know what pressure these power steering systems run at , so i can get some hose that will stand up to it...? I have gone and cut the metal pipe now , so a hose is the only option out here...
It must have been dam strong fuel line Treeman used to fix his...!
