BMW 2.5TD into XJ?
« on: October 09, 2010, 01:43:57 PM »

Has anybody put a BMW 6 cylinder 2.5TD engine in an Xj before? I've had a quick look and reckon it'll go in lovely.

I've been offered a complete car and with the price of LPG rising rapidly diesel could be the way forward but don't want a hideous VM motor. Max torque is only slightly lower than the 4l at 190 so not too much difference. The same engine is used in the range rover and it seems to pull the 2 1/2 tons of junk around ok.

Any thoughts?

depends on how much of the work you will do yourself. there was one in tamworth with the bmw engine but the jeep ip cluster wasn't connected and obviously not working.

The electrics would be the main problem.

Good luck Gray!

Defo a strong engine the BMW lump, seems a shame to junk your current set up though.

Cheers Maf
