wider tyres?? good or bad idea??
« on: October 18, 2010, 08:48:23 PM »

Guys, bit of advice needed? my 79 cj7 is running on 33x12.50x15's no power steering but managable. I have a set of xenon / bushwacker 6 inch flares to fit on the cj but the 12.50's will be less than flush to the outside of the arches.
Would it be a bad idea to go 13.50 or 14.50 wide?
not much choice around for these tyres but there is a set of 35x14.50x15 boggers just been put on ebay.
Advice would be greatly apreciated.  :greggmo:

You just said the B-word. That instantly makes people's eyes glaze over. You must have the boggers at all costs.
In reality, bushwackers are pretty brittle, and boggers without power steering sounds like a handful.

theyre on ebay with a staring price of £500, 10mm left in the middle. over inflated by the sounds of it. My jeep will be used a fair bit on the road so boggers would be too aggresive wouldnt they?

Im a bit confused now! googled the flares what i thought were xenons but cant see anything similar! :017:
These flares were on my 2 old cjs (B304 CRN & CJZ4422 stupidly lifted on 44's!) They are the same moulded shape of the front wings with flat top & the rears are kind of like boxed arches that cover the whole of the rear section up to the door curve.

Do you cut out your old wings and wheel arches to fit those things or do they go straight over the top of the existing?

Breed em hard in Wales looks like you have a spare wheel as a head rest in that photo. :icon_eek:

:098: hehehehe, I thought the 1st comment would have been about my ugly mug!! that was in a car show, I had some rims in the back for sale!!
They fit over existing, you could cut out the steel arches but wouldnt gain anything.
There doesnt seem to be much positive vibes on these flares!!! I quite like them mself, Maybe a welsh thing!!!!
