Pcm repair/replace?? advice please 2003 2.7crd
« on: October 22, 2010, 06:00:21 PM »

Managed to access the fault codes on my (dead) grand cherokee. Got 7 codes which were p1242,p0190,p2120,p2125,p1608,p0115 and p1685. The one that seesm to be the most relevant to me is p1608 which seems to indicate the PCM has failed. Ive tried to find any articles about repairing ,whether a good idea or not?? there are a few companies that advertise repairs for around 100 pounds (that wasnt a jeep one but seems to be the going price) or there are a few breakers on ebay for a bit more.
Anyone want to advise which they think is the best route? need to do something as the car is totally unuseable at the moment! i have used ecu-doctor before for a fiat ecu repair which worked fine, but that was a small petrol engined one.
Really appreciate any thoughts/advice!
Thanks
Tony

most of the codes suggest a bad earth or bad connection. I'd look at the wiring first.

if it was a bad earth any suggestions where to check? ive tried the battery connections and main earth lead which looked fine. Are there any normal places they fail?
Thanks
