what is the equivalent tyres size of this

2.80/85 x 16 ?


It's an ex-mafia/waggers special so probably unique to the IOM. they're 33" diam but what is the equivalent in metric as the numbers go not what i can fit to the rim

Unless I'm confused by your question, if it's 85/16 and 33" it would be 255/85/16 which is what I run on mine.

these are goodyears and i'm assuming they're a military size possibly ex TGB ?

just looked and they are 280's so i had a Buldog moment there, shame the sidewalls make them iffy for road use.

havin driven them on the road, you will be glad you can't do it.....sounds just like a series lardie only louder lol but they don't look bad otherwise...... excuse for a bigger lift then dave.....

I'm only messing with you Dave - you will be amazed at how many little things and the extent of trimming need when going from 31 ish tyres to 33 ish. spacing away from springs, getting a turning circle back, opening the wheel wells front to back and covering tyres width ways, bumpstopping, the weight effect of the tyres (especially those I'd guess) as well as the increased diameter....

otherwise, looking good

even though the sizes is great the 280 width is a bit much at the moment. tyres will be off and offloaded onto the bay at some point and replaced by 255's.

No more lift just drop, need to work out the bump stops etc for it to work well. TBH not realy interested in trying them out on the road even for a short trip

I drove on those tyres from kil Sweden -  noisy at 60MPH to say the least - very strong tyre and surprising ability off road.

to be honest Pete they do look a good tyre for off road, it's just a shame about the rubber showing it's lack of use.

i read one comment that made me smile. someone was asking the load rating of the tyre, the answer was the vehicle will more likely be crushed before you exceed the load rating.

being a 280 section tyre they do sit well on the 7 inch rim tho'
