In preparation for some sway bar disconnects i have started removing the stock sway bar thingys that connect the axle to the anti sway bar.. :evil:

To get this off do i have to bash f**k out of it or is it threaded and i have to try and turn it... :wink:

2 options I think Phil
1 Use a hub splitter
2 swing the loose sway bar (THe U shaped bar that goes across the front of your TJ down so that it rests against the front bumper for support and then using a BFH wack the thread until thread and ball come out of sway bar

Hope that works but Im sure someone will be along soon for a more constructive overview

You could use a pickle fork. Its shaped like a Y and you slide it inbetween the sway and the link and wack it with a hammer.

Or

You take the swaybar completely off like mentioned and put thread side down into concrete and pound the sway bar and the force againt the ground should force it out.

I'd highly recommend the pickle fork idea first but well when your impatient you do what you must. =)

hit the ARB not the treads, you loosen the rust thats holding the thing together, oh and tread release oil helps too

I have been drowning them in Wd40 for the last few days and Im havin a go at them again on Fri. I didnt want to start bashing when i should have been turning if you know what i mean so thanks for all the advice.

It's big in the biking faterinty.... so try bike shops.

Did a google for "Buy GT85" and out of first page, 5 were bike shops and one was ebay.

Once you get your JKS you won't look back, don't forget to put the "re locating" pegs well out of the way, well useful and mega easy to use once all set up.

I would, anything to make life a bit easier. I phoned GT85 and apparently it is sold at most bike shops..

Old ones are off now. it was pretty much what everyone said. Disconnect both from the bottom first, swing the bar down onto the bumper and give em some welly. They came out fairly easy that way ( i aint got a pickle fork ).

New ones goin in on Monday.( hopefully) I went for BDS in the end, havent done much research but there are arguments for both, i suppose its whatever blows your frock up.

just put bds discos on Owens xj, easyish to fit (no distructions :roll:

)
be prepared to cut/shorten & re drill the tubes, (tooooooo long)
