XJ Been To Garage, Need Adice

94 cheokee 4.0 limited

Just been to garage to have a good look around undeneith for any issues, this is what we spotted

previous owner change oil before xmas.

1) Noticed little leak from oil filter, is this common or possible wrong filter

2) When turning rear prop shaft by hand noticed 1 wheel start moving, but takes just over half a revolution for the other wheel to start moving, is this the pinion gear, advise please (could this be the cause of the clunk when stopping?)

3) same prop shaft into gearbox, minor leak from seal, is this easy job to replace

4) exhaust big hole behind back box, and font pipe clamp bolt has sheared (going to replace)

5) steering pipe the one you adjust, oil all over it.

6) checked gearbox oil, still nice and reddish

7) last owner replaced heater matix and ai con evap & condensor, coolant overflow bottle is dak brown and mirky, but dosen't look like any oil is floating

Also noticed that there is no Cat on exhaust, I would have thought it would need it for MOT emissions!

couple of small rust holes in siles, I should be able to fix these

cheers for any help

all cars suffer from this at some point in their life

2) When turning rear prop shaft by hand noticed 1 wheel start moving, but takes just over half a revolution for the other wheel to start moving, is this the pinion gear, advise please (could this be the cause of the clunk when stopping?)

probably some play in the driveline, maybe your clunk issue but, drop the diff cover off and see what actually happens to the gear mesh play when you turn the prop

3) same prop shaft into gearbox, minor leak from seal, is this easy job to replace

not a biggy but can get messy, remove cover and slot in new seal, internet has threads covering this in one form or another

4) exhaust big hole behind back box, and font pipe clamp bolt has sheared (going to replace)

£30 off fleabay

5) steering pipe the one you adjust, oil all over it.

leaked oil has to go somewhere

6) checked gearbox oil, still nice and reddish

7) last owner replaced heater matix and ai con evap & condensor, coolant overflow bottle is dak brown and mirky, but dosen't look like any oil is floating

they probably didn't clean the header bottle

Also noticed that there is no Cat on exhaust, I would have thought it would need it for MOT emissions!

emissions and fueling will be out, ideally put another back in

couple of small rust holes in siles, I should be able to fix these

What should I search for, for guides specific to jeeps tried a few things but not getting what I need, Sorry I'm a complete newb and no mech so not sure of terminology to use

Just found out its been like this for last 3-4 years, and its passed MOT each time, but could this be causing the low mpg, just done a few longs runs and getting around 20mpg, but town around 11mpg

really appreciate the advice and help

Not having a cat won't effect fuel consumption. It is unlikely to pass an MoT unless you take it back to the previous owner's crooked mate for testing.
