RCV Performance CV Type shafts
« on: February 24, 2011, 06:47:22 PM »

Hello,
I have been speaking (well by email!)to Ashcroft Transmissions who are the UK dealer for RCV performance in the states. I have asked them to get me a set of the CVJ30 front CV half shafts for Dana 30 as they say that they can supply a set for £595 plus £15 for uk delivery, plus VAT.
As I understand it, this is a one off and they won't have them stocked on the shelf. I offered to see if anybody else is after some, so here you go.

RCV claim that they are unbreakable and they have a CV type joint, no yolks, you can see more info here:
RCV Performance]http://www.rcvperformance.com/store/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=59&products_id=38[desc]RCV Performance

Ashcroft]http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/[desc]Ashcroft  need to know by wednesday next week 2/3/11 as their pallet will leave soon after.

Cheers

Will

How so? Please tell me more

I have problems snapping half shafts, not snapping axles, or is that yet to come?

Confirmed - weak link will be the R&P as the Knuckle and shaft is the same for a 44.

Hmmm, ok. Point Taken. Think I'll still get them as they are only £100 ish more than a set of Alloy USA 4340 shafts.
I'm intrigued that the R&P will fail before the prophaft uj, oh well still learning.

Useless bit of history ............ I was on the rocks at Kirton with  a mate (Coyote) now Jeepless

Me with  warn shafted Dana 30 with high pinion.......... (under heavy excercise ring and pinion forced together.....)
He in TJ with low pinion dana 30.. ring and pinion forced apart under load.....

Both got stuck in same place.....I survived............ he made a strange whirring noise in the diff department..... and that was it for him for the weekend............

So yer shafts might survive but get youself a High pinion dana 30 from an early XJ tis a drop in for a TJ so they tell me.... otherwise you'll be hopping mad like Coyote :ace:
