Warning Light on WJ
« on: March 11, 2011, 09:02:28 AM »

Mother in Laws 2.7 Diesel WJ, 2003.

Had a text this morning to say that she has a warning light on, she looked in the manual and it says possible loose fuel cap / poor fuel.

Only 1/4 of tank in it so told her to fill it up with decent diesel.

Is there anything else to look for?

Cheers

When was the fuel filter last changed, assuming that it is relating to low fuel pressure if it says fuel filler cap in the handbook ?

She has filled it up, threw it round a few corners and all is ok now.

think she let it run very low before putting £20 in so must have been a bit of crap, Will chuck a new filter on it tomorrow to be sure.

Was services not long ago, about 3k I think.

The fuel gauge in the 2.7 can be a bit temperamental at times as discussed in several other threads.  Nothing to worry about as long as she resets the odometer at fill up and the overhead display.  Around town she's good for 350 miles easy on a full tank.

Know where you're coming from.  Had one of those WJ V8 puppies in Holland before I moved to Kernow.
