Hi.  I had to leave the Jeep for 3 weeks.  When I came back I went to open the doors with the remote and the battery was flat. Opened the door with the key and no interior lights, no sign of life.  Opened the bonnet, disconnected the battery, and put the battery on charge.

Came back a few hours later and reconnected the battery, passenger door open,and hazard lights came on and the alarm went off.  It is kind of loud when you head is not too far away from the engine bay!  Tried pressing the unlock button on the remote to disarm, but to no avail, so disconnected the battery again, and the siren stopped.

In the handbook that I have for the Jeep, is says the horn will sound for 3 minutes, but this is definitely a siren (ask the neighbours!). Does this suggest that an after market siren has been fitted, or did Jeep fit sirens as well?

Put the battery on and start the engine. The siren should stop.

me too, although you don't need to start mine, just turn the ignition on

So the battery is almost charged up .... do I just connect it up and then try and start the car, or just ignition on, with the alarm going?  I assum then that resets what ever it is that thisnks things have gone wrong.

YAY! All done.  Connected the battery, a friend had the bonnet light switch pushed down,and turned the key and it started.  Thanks for all your help .... and nobody got woken up from their Sunday lie ins!!

Yeah sorting out the security after the battery drains is a PITA

Having somebody push in the bonnet light switch is the handy bit.

If you drain the battery and then try and jump start it you have to have the bonnet open to get the jump leads on and it thinks it is being violated.

I had terrible trouble when having had the battery disconnected for a while because it was flat it started off the booster pack and I drove it round the corner, parked and locked it and then tried to get in and start it again and there were not enough volts left to disarm it.

I think I had to disconnect battery, connect and leave booster pack connected to the battery, come back later, disconnect booster, connect battery, alarm goes off, shut bonnet and doors, click key a few times LOCK then UNLOCK then open doors and bonnet, connect booster again, then it started.
Did not think to push bonnet light switch down.
