I have a UK spec 2004 Jeep Cherokee (Liberty) 2.8 CRD Limited.  It has done 50K miles.  I have noticed that when towing my caravan, the front end of the van is very low, and the tow bar is lower to the ground than some other peoples with the same car on a caravanning forum I am registered on.  I have also noticed that without the caravan attached, the left hand side rear sits about 40mm lower than the right hand side, whereas the front is level.  I have checked the springs and they both look OK and are the same length unloaded but there is a 10-15mm difference when loaded.  I therefore assume that I have a weak spring.  My questions are;

1. Is there anything else that can be causing this problem?
2. Does anyone know of a good Jeep spare parts outlet in the UK (or US that will ship to UK) as I am struggling to find some new springs without going to dealer?

I don't know specifically if they will stock rear springs for your KJ Cherokee/Liberty but Rockauto.com in the US have a very good online catalogue and you can order over the net for shipping to the UK. Lighthouse Jeep Parts in Norfolk (01953 681237) may be able to help, just excuse their phone manners, they are helpful but sometimes take a few seconds to lose the grumpy bastard tone in the voice!

Not sure if there is something else that could be causing the problem but I do recall someone else once having problems with the height of the towbar on their KJ and the fact that their caravan wouldn't tow right. You might be able to find that thread by searching here on Birty's

I think when I was pricing a lift for my old KJ, it was something like £100 per spring though (heavy duty to give 2" lift).

They just buy them from TBR and  ship them on, usually the same price as TBR but not cheaper.

Thanks for all your advice.  I have emailed the contacts, so I'll see how I get on.  I need to do a few measurements , but may look at getting some springs to raise the ride height, as I think that the caravan is a good couple of inches off level when being towed, so a bit unstable.  It was interesting to see someone else may have had the same problem, i will take a look.  Does anyone have any experience in fitting spring assisters?  I had seen some reference to MAD assisters which seem to get a good write up 

Pardon my ignorance but what is the significance of KJ v's XJ - I've had my Jeep 3 years but never really had cause to buy parts so it's all new to me.

XJ is earlier model upto 2001.

2001 on is KJ/Liberty range.
