Looking ofr a spare wheel for my TJ
« on: March 16, 2011, 05:22:59 PM »

Ive got a 33" tyre on a rim, but im running 35" x 12.50 x 15 Micky's. I wouldnt mind getting the same size wheel and tyre as a spare and was wondering if there was a member who could sort me out with one for a few beer tokens?

Also ive seen spare wheel mounts adapters but only for upto 33". Are there any places out there that do these? or is there any point in carrying a spare?

putting a 35 on the rear tailgate can be done but I think it does put a fair bit of strain on the door and hinges so Ideally you  need a swing out bumper  mounted tyre carrier.

i wouldn't even put a 33 on the tailgate, never mind a 35. you need a swing away for the weight

good luck with finding a spare

Any recommendations for a place to buy a swing away?

Unless you need 4 seats, just secure the spare in the cargo area.

Whilst its possible to mount 33's-35's tyres on the tailgate using a Tomken adaptor & I've done it for 2 years I would say its best avoided.
