diff query
« on: April 27, 2011, 07:27:06 PM »

hi all i own a 2002 WJ 4.0 6cyl how can i tell which diffs i have without opening them up. i am looking at doing an oil change and i dont know if i need 80w90 or 75w140 and if i still need a friction modifier with the 75w140 as some of the oils available already have modifiers mixed in. also the manual quotes a mopar number for the transfer oil does any body know of an aftermarket alternative. thanks, mick.

75w90, 4litres didn't get quadradrive in the UK. Get the mopar oil, it is only around £8 a litre. I did find an equivalent oil, its a mobile agricultural hydrolic mix, but you can only get it in 200 litre drums

Unless it says 'Quadradrive' on the gearshift console, it has open diffs. We used to use Shell Agrifluid in the 247 transfer case.
