If you are replacing it with a fresh/modded arm. Then why not just use a cutting disc and a cold chisel to split the pitman arms mating surface to the steering box shaft?

Made 2 cuts (careful not to go too deep and hit the splined shaft of the S Box though) Then split using a Cold Chisel (For Metal) The Cuts alone can be enough to relieve the fit on between the two surfaces.

Work for Asylums Truck.... :icon_biggrin:

The only thing im a little concerd about is that im sure the 2 dropped Pitman arms I have are for a LHD XJ, Not 100% sure if the splines will line up correctly! They should do, I just wanna make sure before I destroy the original one! LOL.
I think the hole where the steering rod bolts on (On the Dropped Pitmans) is slightly angled for the steering rod, i.e its twisted for the correct angles on a LHD! Can anyone please enlighten me on this if you know for sure!
Cheers.....Chris

If memory serve's me correct?

We had success, by placing the puller on the arm and getting a piece of bar and hitting downwards from inside the engine bay. Pretty sure it was a piece of 1 1/2" sold CRS or may of been tube?

Heating up using a basic Butane/Propane heat gun seem to help. Oxy/Accet would of been nice :icon_super:

Aint got a TJ a hand to make sure, if it was on one though....

May help?

only loosen the nut to the bottom of the threads stops the drop arm coming off at 100 mph and bouncing round the workshop

Are you sure you would Trust "Drapanese" quality :003:

Sykes & Pickavant would be my choice :icon_winkle:

If you have a welder, its possible that running a couple of beads onto the pitman. Would create a good amount of heat, done that before :icon_winkle:
