OK guys, what is the biggest tyre I can fit without any noticable difference in performance and how high can I go comfortably without the need for an SYE? Looking more from a cosmetic point of view than off roading as this is to become my summer cruiser no 2

31" tyre and 2"lift i believe.

31's will screw you 5th gear unless you travel very light (soft top and no back seat / passengers)

30's will keep it near to okay...... with a hard top and full.

if you want 31's, and not play offroad, they'll fit okay with just the steering stops adjusted (crap turning circle though)

So, shopping list for 31s would be...:
10 mm Spacers for the front wheels  (Still have to adjust, but makes a huge difference to your turning circle) or 4 if you prefer?
Extended studs
TBS
Sports header and cat-back

That should keep you happy.

go for 30x9.5s and you'll not need any of the above :)

If you want to play offroad with 31s, get a budget boost or 2" lift, disco's etc etc.

I'm very pleased with my OME 2" lift kit, and you can get soft, medium or heavy duty, and mix and match to accommdate your set-up (i.e. HD all round for winch and hard top, med front and HD rear for hard top only, med all-round for soft top and no winch etc).  I think there was some information on the Quadratec site about this.

If you lift by 2" then you'll need a TC drop kit if you're not fitting a SYE.  The OME kit comes with this - basically just spacers.

Beg to slightly disagree I've got a 2" BB and didn't need to drop the transfer case at all FWIW Im really happy with it as well

Mine had 2.5" OME and needed the transfer case drop kit. Some with 2" BBs do and some get away with it. Never had clearence probs on 31s but top gear does become a tad tall.

yes.......but with the currie set up you can tilt the axle slightly if needed as the arms are adjustable and no transfer skid drop required.

Should have said that I haven't dropped my TC either - but that's because I have a SYE fitted.  8)   IIRC the blurb that comes with the OME says that you can sometimes get away without dropping the TC.  Not sure what the determining factor is though.  :?
