Hi guys, my jeep is throwing code p0161 bank 2, sensor 2(o2 sensor heater element malfunction) and wondered if anyone knew the correct part number for this sensor?

It's also throwing code p0172 system too rich (bank 1) Could this be linked to the faulty o2 sensor even though they are on different banks?

Yes i got this fault as well,

I over come mine by plugging in my ODBII and turning the warning light off.

Not productive I know lol

No, it won't affect mixture control, it's just a monitor.

I plugged in my launch ob2 scanner and reset all the codes but the misfire was still present and the engine light soon came back on!

I've read that on the wj the downstream does affect the mixture control. If this were the case, could the bank 2 o2 sensor affect the mixture on bank 1 of the engine?

Obviously I could be wrong but am only going on what I have read!

mmmmm, I dont get any misfiring just every now and then the fault code which caused no issues at all.

Could mine be due it to running on LPG? just a thought.

No, it won't affect mixture control, it's just a monitor.

Take what Mike said as gospel. What you 'read' elsewhere is from questionable source.

Jay - Looks like your misfire is been caused by something else.

Have you any other codes?

i've got p1282 but have had this since i bought the car 18 months ago. I should have mentioned that i have an lpg system fitted and it seems to run better on lpg. If i'm stationary and flick the system back over to petrol, the engine will usually die or at least the revs will dip. Major service in July..... My exhaust is also starting to blow but no more than it has been since the mot in may.

P1282 - fuel pump control circuit.

Maybe you have had this fault for a while like you say but it deteriorating and now causing a problem. Just a thought I am no expert.

I decided to pull the battery for a few hours on thursday and this morning the only code it is now shoing is p0172. Having read up on it it seems that a malfunctioning o2 heater circuit can cause this. How can I find the correct part number for my o2 sensor? Is it possible to read it if I crawl under the car? It seems worthwhile replacing this sensor anyway as it is faulty.

Any further help still appreciated!

So this morning, no check engine light..... but still has a missfire and it seems hesitant when pulling away too until it switches over to lpg.

I have tried looking through the parts catalogue to work out what the correct part number is for the o2 sensor but can't find it and am unsure on wjjeeps.com because they have different emission laws....

I'm not going against advice by thinking that this sensor will cure my misfire but whilst I'm getting my wallet out I may as well fix this too!

Hope someone can help.

On a long run recently fuel consumption got even worse than normal, then after fuelling had a MIL light.

Limped (more or less) home & found I had code P0171 - left bank too lean.  Replaced O2 upstream sensor (56044580AA, 56 euros from local Jeep dealer).  Jeep now running nicely.

From the 2004 parts list,for all 4,7L:

56044580AA                  Before catalyst left side
56044581AA                  Before catalyst right side
56044583AA                  Oxygen, After catalyst right side
56044582AA                  Oxygen, After catalyst left side

It's really useful over here as germans are incapable of finding anything without the key code on the registration doc.  Being on UK plates, I don't have one and it sends them into a frenzy of incompetance!   

Even trying to find power steering fluid at the stealer in Leipzig was a nightmare    hence a 30k trip to Grimma. (very helpful people)
