HELP
« on: November 11, 2011, 02:23:50 PM »

Having problems sourcing the correct size brake/clutch unions for the pipes,

standard size is either 3/8" UNF or M10 (metric)

Unfortunately I have 3 fittings (front brake pipes (SSBC)/slave cylinder) that uses a different thread all together. I thought it was 7/16" UNF but its not, right size but wrong thread/pitch

Can anyone tell me what it is so I can order some before I resort to butchering the threads to the common 7/16" UNF

ring lighthouse jeep, they should have the parts in stock but i'd be surprised if they know the thread size.

if it's the same fittings as the XJ then it's specific to the brand and not available off the shelf in the UK so the parts will have to be bought in.

yep it's a PITA

Have you tried UNC as this is certainly the case on my TJ. I get all my bolts and nuts from Bee fast fasteners in High Wycombe

Apparentely talking to the boys in the US it's more than likley a 1/8 27 TPI NPT thread, its common in the US to use pipe threads on brake fittings, thats why the flares are opposite as well, (convex vs concave) I have had a engineering fabricator look at them and for piece of mind and avaibility we are going to retap them to 7/16 UNF.
