I am looking at an IRO 4" lift, what is the difference between a normal 4" lift and a critical path long arm 4" lift.

also IRO quote "Although not very strong, the factory Saginaw driveshaft works fine up to a lift height of about 4".

My truck seems to have newer or different parts to many other WJs is it possible my drive shaft will cope or are they all the same, man i dont wanna commit to buying and then have to spend a shit load more cos IRO didnt think of every thing

SCRW i know you are gonna be thinking i have told him all this

but i need to know i am getting the right stuff

also $1,499.99 for 6.5" lift whats missing to make this cost £10,000 as i was told recently

Are you going to go over 4" ? If so the LA makes the ride better on the road & gives more flex off it. Short arms will work BUT slightly less flex due to the arc of travel of the axle/wheel. Bad point with LAs they shift the lateral roll centre back when you are going up steep hills (wheelie time!!)

What joint is at your TC end of the front prop? if its CV you need a new shaft, end of. They can't do the angles.

I would say go short arm first, you may not like ya truck at 4" of lift, with short arms you can play around with spring heights. With long arm you MUST start at 4" and go up, they won't work with a lower spring as the arms will hit the body. Also if you want to go higher (and short arms will go above 4") you can just get the LA kit and flog off your short arms.

honestly i am looking at the 6.5" as well, i use my truck like a tractor and chill at under 70 on the motorway not sure how much my ride will be affected

i think my front prop is cv in fact i am sure, was hoping it might cope hmm will need that number steve of the uk dude you found.

is it still possible to set up a bundle box account if so i will set one up and we can order a shitload of stuff and poke the tax man in the eye

(or hack his head )

There are different type of long-arms suspension set-ups - basically the most common seems to be only two connections at the body/frame and then Y to the two mounts on each side of the axle, the other types are 3-link and 4-link systems. I have a Full Traction 4-link on my XJ and it is basically a mimic of the stock Jeep suspension setup but with longer control arms. All the systems do slighlty different things and behave differently on and off road.

The IRO looks like a good kit but there is no extra cross bracing of the chassis included in the Kit.
The rubicon one fitted to my ZJ has extra chassis bracing as a long arm can put strain on the unibody. (Rubcon d'not make a kit for the WJ)
also you may need an Slip yoke eliminator kits and new props as the distance between the yoke centers will be longer than stock.
and when you fit bigger tyres you will increase the load on the axle shafts and diffs so you you will need to think of up grading them or things will go ping.

Also any kit you get from the states that has a lift over 4" will require you to modify your front track arm as the Yank one will hit the diff
But I can help with that
And the exhaust may need to be modified as it may hit on the long arms.

But long arms are the way to go

IRO do RHD track bars. The US chaps don't have issues with the rear prop at 6", but I am wondering if that is as they mainly have 242HDs in them with the different output on them (and they use TC drop kits)

oh bollox you are now all talking swahili, i am a member of the WTF is a spanner club that BD invented, when it comes to cars anyway, give me a set of clamplocks or HW's and i am fine.

Do you have to do all this stuff yourself or are there peeps you can take your kit to to fit it

quite alot of it is a case of bolt off then bolt on. wheel alignment is the normal task post installation.

SCRW does import IRO products but if you want finer details then give them a ring as they can tell you in detail what will be good or bad for your installation and where you want to be. Since their staff have lifted grands they do know what does and doesn't work. Then you can compare their shipping and then create a bundlebox account (5 mins tops) for slightly cheaper shipping.

It is a big decsion and cost to make whith little knowledge

Its the knock on effects of chucking a 6" lift under your jeep that costs. Front prop, £380ish, uprated rear ARB, £200, maybe a new rear prop if you get vibes, £100 (if you can extend it) to £400 odd for a SYE.

How much do you want to blow on it? TBH if you are still thinking going bigger, get the front LA kit with 4" springs, your rear prop is safe at that, then when you go 6.5" if the prop says no you can stick the 4s back in while you source a SYE or longer rear prop.

Either way we can get the lift on in a day or so, just get it down to our barn 1 weekend in the new year, you can't be worse on the spanners than Stew

I am planning a shipment in mid January so may tie up nice
