help ive got engine oil coming out of the clutch cover on my 360. i have replaced the rear seals twice but it still keeps coming any idears anyone

sorry dude, i am a bit rude.
the 360 im refering to is in my cj 7 that ive had for 7 years now and is farly modified, also my girlfriend has a 72cj5 thats farly original but with a few upgrades to make it easer for her to drive.

I take it the seal you changed twice was the rear main oil seal? I presume it's in two halves as per the 304?
Did you thoroughly degrease the area before fitting the new seal?
Did you apply RTV to the ends of the lower half?
Did you let it all dry before filling up with oil and starting her up?

have you checked the engine breather is not blocked?
also check the thrust bearings when the engine is hot...........

yes the half moon rear seals at the bottom of the engine im sure im probably just not wating long enough for it all to dry.
what breather? how do i check the thrust bearings and where would i find them? ive never realy ventured into the engine before since i put it in.

no i didnt take the engine out i pocked the uper half round with a punch and then threaded the new one in.

Yea, I'd make sure the engine PCV set up is good. Have you noticed any other leaks like at the valve covers or at the oil fill cap?
And yea...welcome to Birtys! :shock:

if you take the oil filler off when shes warm and runnin does she breath heavy if so you may be better off doin a ring job and cylinder hone .......but that said you arnt fitting the seal in the ideal way hence why i asked if the engine was out where are you located anyways
