strange idea for my WJ
« on: January 07, 2012, 04:24:52 PM »

i have been weighing the pros and cons of a 4" lift for my WJ and i am not sure i can justify such expense to lift my truck for so little amount of time i will off road.  I green lane often and the budget 2" lift is adequate, however when working i carry a lot of weight in the boot what with tools etc and the rear end sits low, am i talking bollox when thinking or giving the rear a 3" lift to compensate for the added weight, was thinking it would be ok, the rear prop is a UJ and i understand i would need to change the control arm thingys.

or do i just go for a 3" lift all round and hope the front prop can cope

good idea or bad idea

Personally....... I would not compromise what at present works well for all needs. If you go down the slippery slope that is extreme mods...... Your truck's usefulness as an everyday rig will decrease.......

Now..wonder how I know that...... :jpshakehead: :017: but then maybe airbag assist for the rear would help your overloading?

Get some petrol OME HD rear springs, give 40mm ish of lift & a higher rating, that plus you BB will give you an extra 1" lift at the rear, your gas tanks will be causing pain to stock springs. I run this setup with the diesel springs (longer than petrol) to get around 4.5" of lift at the back

not keen on the pucks, would like more options at the next cheapfest and i pushed the pucks to their limits i fear, not too much to do with the 3" lift so kinda leaves things a bit standard, if you catch my drift
