XJ not starting
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:18:33 AM »

My 2000 TD XJ has just stopped starting, the engine turns over but there is no glowplug light and it doesn't fire. Never missed a beat before this. I'm thinking immobiliser? Has anyone had this or a similar problem and can I have a bit of help. :017:

Cheers, Steve

Is it smoking when you crank it but not firing if so glow plug relay could be faulty

go simple first check the connection to the fuel stop solenoid on the pump you should hear a faint click from it and if you are touching it at the same time you will feel it click very slightly    but the you will def have no smoke of any kind when cranking

I did think about the relay's but not sure how to check they are working. There is no smoke when cranking and the fuel gauge has also stopped reading, not sure if it is related. How do you access the fuel pump?
