Switch?

Working through the various switches on the ZJ and there's one which baffles me especially as its not in the owners manual

Its a button to the left of the steering wheel marked with the D symbol and 'off'identical to the drive symbol on the autobox

Whats it for (not the autobox before some smartass comes up with a reply.....and no its not an ejector seat IBTJn.... :D )

Ok, sensible answer now........

Not the same as the "power" switch on a 4-litre XJ is it??
