Heater Fan not working? '99 GC 4.0 LTD

Morning all
My enjoyment of driving everywhere through this wonderful snow we've been having has been mildly damped by the blower fan stopping working. Not a major issue as I can drive with the windows down, Ace Ventura Style (insert random smiley here). But I would like to get it working again! Apparently, it has randomly started working again at times which would suggest a loose connection of some sort? It's not the fuse.
Wonder if anyone has any tips for tracking down the problem? Only another couple of niggles to sort after this - rear passenger door lock is stuck (sometimes opens, sometimes doesn't) -probably needs adjusting / greasing but I'll wait for warmer weather!
Cheers in advance, Richard.

Sounds exactly like what my problem is, and seems it's common too! Good to know I'm not just unlucky. Many thanks for the link!

My resistor pack is out & looking second hand, the plug is melted to the unit itself. Looks like I will have to cut the loom plug out and solder some tails directly onto the board to connect to the loom.

Thanks very much for the links. Don't suppose you would know where I can purchase these parts from in the UK? Think I'll replace the wiring & resistor together, but ebay is asking for about $20 for the harness plus $100 shipping!

I have rebuilt jays connector , not a hard thing to do , you can do it the lazy way we di by removing all the melted plastic then cleaning the connector before slipping some heat shrink over them an puting them into position.Worked on my own wj as well.

All done bar fitting. I just used some 25amp cable and soldered direct to the board pins. Will use some bullet connectors to splice into the loom, cost to fix is pence.

melted plug
soldered on some wires direct to the board pins
put back together and sealed up the plug hole
connected into the loom with bullet plugs, all working fine

Great work there scrw! I will have a go at this myself at the weekend and report back (assuming we don't have another bout of snow in the meantime!)

Well - finally got around to getting the air con fixed. My probelm was exactly as above. In fact I called a local auto-electrician to come & sort it out for me - took the resistor off, cut out the melted plastic, cleaned up the terminals, re-soldered where needed and all working perfectly. Cost me £80 in the end, no parts needed. Ice cold air con now, and not a moment too soon! Thanks for all your input, all.
