rock rails, diff covers paint or powdercoat
« on: February 26, 2012, 01:00:32 AM »

The rock rails should be finished being built in the next couple of weeks and my BTF (Blue torch fab)  diff covers are on route.

AS there are all made of mild steel i am in two minds how best to protect them from the elements.

DO i powdercoat them? NOt sure on how tough this will be against the stripping compound that is the clay soil of Salisbury plain, rubing trees etc.

or use trailer bed paint like http://www.protectakote.co.uk/anti_slip_paint.htm

or maybe something else? :017: :017:

paint, its easier to splash a bit over damage, powder coat will chip/peel off looking unsightly

Breadcrumbs  :003:

Honestly, go for paint rather than powder coat.  it will be easier to maintain.

show truck = powdercoat

muddy truck = paint (use it then paint again then use it then paint again ….)

spray enamel (hamerite etc) would be my choice

So paint it is then
Used this stuff

http://www.hammerite.co.uk/products/garage_door_paint.jsp
forgot about this stuff might be better than the protector coat and a lot cheaper.
