Midlands propshaft places
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:03:06 AM »

There is a long known issue with the Panzer that a centre propshaft bearing goes at around 60k

So much so that on der panzer forum it is considered a service item at this mileage. VW option is whole new prop & lighten your wallet by £1200 - £1500. There is a place in chesire that will do anything from sell you the bearing for £25 to an exchange or refurb yours in a day for £450 ish.

Any places a little more local in the midalnds you could recomend, thinking prevention before it goes tits on mine now its done over 50k  :icon_super:

word at the dealerships and on the street is no you can't , towrags only send a limited amount of power to the front axle when in hi, you can lock the centre diff and move it in low but its only recomended you do that to move the vehicle from a dangerous position.

you'll need some ramps to get the arse end in the air and slide under from the back to remove, some decent spanners and socket set and a big hammer to dislocate the  ends from the seatings. or a decent pry bar

Well latest info from the Panzer site is that there are places that will do the job while you wait for about £250, just trying to find one closer to home to see if that would be an option. Closest so far is Cheshire or Kent.

Seems as the cars are getting older its getting a more common & therefore cheaper fix. VW still want you to buy a new prop at around the £1200 - £1500 mark  :wsmile:

Still think MJS & Proptech is the way to go  :icon_super:
