On a round trip to Ollanda last year, on the way back, 80'ish in the outside lane, for no apparent reason, abs light comes on. No MIL or anything else and truck just keeps going as it has always done, apart from the fact that the cruise control didn't work anymore. Cruise is also tied in to the ABS thingamabob. Was coming up for MOT and the guys here say that if you ABS dont work it is a fail. cleaned out all my speed sensors at the wheels and all that malarky... still no go.The general consensus was that the ABS controler was fubar and needed replacing...... 750 quid off the shelf @ dealer excl. installation.Gave Carlos a shout and he came up trumps with a replacement that did not work after installation but then the truck went in MIL, limp home, 1st gear scenario.Ended up with an ebay replacment, cap in hand to dealer at 20 MPH and being pulled off the dual carriage way by coppers for going to slow, ending up calling recovery chappy who turned up in a van, no no no cannot pull me, permanent 4wd and all, and then ended up being escorted by him through the back lanes and lo and behold, plug in and ......happy days.In all was still a couple of hundred quid worse off but at least this saga was over.I'll have a hunt for my thread on the matter.
Had a further look on ebay and there are loads of these on there. Worth to have a look around and make a couple of phone calls....... once again if that is your problem which only a dealer scan can confirm.......Aaaaand found my thread buried deep in the archives..... there ya go http://www.birtydastards.com/frm/index.php?topic=16452.0
And on a totally different subject....... has your forum name any thing to do with the famous yacht of the same name or is it just a discoloured bodypart due to an excessive drinking habit
There we go again .... must be growing tired of me now....My intro on Birties all these years ago was MIL, limp home mode, intermittant or no gear changes issue.....turned out to be that my gearbox needed a programming upgrade .... something to do with the Jeep IT not talking correctly with the Mercedes ITDr. Mike Pavelin helped me out with that one.Just throwing it in the pot.
