Since they are a dana they have always been considered for a replacement axle. Remember that it wont be a bolt on fit and these do come with a limited slip diff with some of the ratios. As for strength one would think they would be but there again the parts might be cheaper from the ford garage

what year transit? Is it a county one? if so I think it has a dana front but a ford rear, chap at the B&B I used to use had one and said getting bits for both the front & rear was a pain, especially the front brake disks, think he was told by lighthouse there were only a few sets left for them

front axle is dana, outer knuckles are a county part with none standard hubs, if you can get jeep outers to fit it will be easier, plus i know where to flog the county outers ;)

Me and the misses was looking at getting a 4x4 tranny (mk2 county) which needed some welding and brake work, we started pricing up the bits and stopped when we found out good 2nd hand discs were going for between £3-400 a pair and that was 3 yrs ago!!

Not sure if they are compatable but the transit front axle on Ebay awhile back looked to have flat top knuckles. These alone would be worth getting.
