Hello Everyone,
I am new to Jeeps having just acquired a 1997 R plated 4.0 Petrol XJ Grand Cherokee Laredo.
Initial driving seems great, excellent turn of speed and no dramas pulling our 21 foot caravan. I an well pleased.
However I have come from a Hilux Surf and my cherokee looks tiny next to the surf.
I am wanting to do a 3 to 4 inch lift which will bring her up to height but I would like to use my nearly new 31/10.50/15 AT tyres from the surf, so to all you knowledgeable people on the forum can you advise. I currently have 16 inch wheels on the cherokee which I want to dump in favour of 15 inch wheels.
I really want just basic 15 inch steel ones but what offset or PCD etc will suit the tyre size and the vehicle? Apologies but after looking through the forum I am still none the wiser or just a thicko!!!!

Before anyone can answer we need to know if you have a XJ or a Grand Cherokee (ZJ)

5 on 4.5" pcd

Or in catholic/napoleon 5 on 114.3mm

be careful about backspace offset cos you'll need to clearance the valance in front of the front wheels.

will also affect your gearing.......not normally a prob unless you tow to max weight in which case OD is redundant....

Sorry, that was my ignorance of variants Its a Grand Cherokee Laredo 1997 so I presume its a ZJ,

leave the 16's on and buy the metric equivalent of 31's

Laredos usually have 15" wheels. I wouldn't use 31" tyres if you're towing, it'll raise the gearing too much.

Hi,
Good answers from all. As we will be towing a lot I guess the 31's will have to go. I was just trying to utilise them as they are so new,
I guess someone in the past must have changed the stock 15 inch wheels for the 16 inch alloys which are on there now. I guess some a/t tyres for the current wheels and a budget boost lift will do for now.

Hello Again,

One more piece of advice please.
If I go with the 2 inch budget boost and I am currently running 225/70/16 tyres then what size can I safely go up to on the rims I have bearing in mind that I will be towing a lot as well.
Can I go to 225/75/16 or can I go to 235/75/16 etc
