i can not find anywhere what should be a distance between top of the arch and centre of the wheel front/rear.
i know i know bigger is better, but how it should look like in numbers in stock xj?
any idea? maybe somobody just changed rear leafs and can check it???

17" and 1" higher at the back if you have diesel springs or the upcountry towong pack

Standard UK petrol XJ like yours should be 17.5" front and 17" rear.

can i still drive it? is it gonna damage something if i will drive without changing rear leafs. front needs to be replaced as well? tomorrow i start 1000 miles european journey and after week coming back. do you think i should go other car?

thanx. i think i will not wear sunglasses. weather is not for sunbath heheh. but i dont worry- gonna spend some time with my Jeep in the forest and on the fields. not to hard but always first off roading. so gonna have fun anyway. will make it sooo dirty-put pics when come back.

Have a brilliant trip and make sure you know where all the petrol stations are.

measure the height with all your intending to take in the back. its sitting low so when loaded will be lower still. you should be ok but be mindfull that an official might think you have an overloaded vehicle and want to ask you some questions

hi,
i'm back. did twice 1040 miles and between long trips some messy journey true the forests aand fields. its still alive!!!! and i have cleaned, b anged and added extra heavy duty leafs on each side for just £100- together.
sounds good? now the distance is 50cm -now planning change amores. did play with make a special customized external spare holder but after 2 days work and test-unscrewed it. have got new idea how to do it stronger and more estetic.

You can get a genuine Jeep external spare carrier for you shape Cherokee but they are often pricey on eBay.

The std jeep external carrier is basically for upto 225 width tyres. Anything bigger and the weight of the wheel and tyre will cause damage to the mounting point when its opened.

The jeep miunting point is not robust and strong plus it fouls the rear shackels with a lift kit fitted of +3"

if distance on rear between centre of the wheel and arch is 50cm -can i replace well used shock absorbers for new stardard ones -or i need something special? front is now lower than back as well.  shock absorbers vomit oil -one on the rear is empty. i put one leaf extra on the back -my jeep became hard as empty lorry. (place where reair/added leafs is lorry specialist garage). when i loqad about 200kg in the boot comfort is much much better. do you think if i change springs and shock absorbers its gonna be better?
