KJ-XJ Engine swap
« on: September 23, 2012, 01:50:04 PM »

I'm not actually looking to do this, I'm just curious about if it would work.
As the VM diesel in XJs seems to be so unreliable, is it possible to swap in either the 2.5 or the 2.8 VM from a KJ?? :017:

I found it strange that I'd never heard anyone asking about it before...

I've seen this done over here once before with the 2.8 CRD..he had heaps of problems with the computerised stuff, mainly because all of the stuff from the KJ has to come with it..wiring nightmare!! The motor itself is a real gem if you can figure a way to run properly without all the 'elecrtrickery' bullshit. If you have the time and patience to get over the glitches then it would be an interesting project.

Pretty much any swop is possible it just depends how much cash you would want to though at it. Better off with a 4ltr :icon_super:

Oh don't worry - I wouldn't have anything but the 4.0l in an XJ... I was just curious! :003:

I thought it might be the electrickery that would cause problems.

here's one to get the juices flowing.....

5.3 LS1 has a whole section on Pirate about swaps.....will go in front of an AX15 NV3500 TH400 or 350 etc etc
produce 300bhp to yourwallets the limit and are bulletproof....
Offroad mag stuck a cheap turbo kit on it and got 20 runs on the dyno at nearly 1,000 bhp or something stupid...

now the thing is there are some on e bay with all electrics and stuff done..... About £1500.

Floats my boat :icon_twisted:

There are bigger LS engines.....of course..... 5.7 6.0 ......and buttock splitting corvette 7.0

But not for 1,500 :icon_biggrin:
