3.0 CRD Transmission Oil Change
« on: October 18, 2012, 08:26:12 AM »

Inspired by the 2.7 thread - Although my transmission is a 'sealed for life' MB one I would like to change the fluid. I've seen the dipsticks on eBay and have read that the transmission fluid temperature neeeds to be measured to determine the correct fill level. I think my basic diagnostic software MIGHT give me this reading BUT am I going to cause more problems trying to do this than just leaving it as the factory intended?

It's just done 100k, had all other fluids changed so would seem a good time to do it. Given the cost of fluids for the diffs, tcase, engine etc. I know the trans fluid will be £££

If its a sealed unit James why fuck around with it.

If it goes 'clunck' in the future is it because you have tampered with it ? .... or not, how would you know ?
